Brief: Create relevant and meaningful content for students and recent graduates on areas relating to early careers, including navigating the hiring process, interview tips, job market trends, and living/ working abroad.
We launched Capital Placement in 2012 to help students and graduates stand out in an increasingly competitive job market through international internships. To take this further, we intend to interview the most talented people across fields, disciplines, and companies (inside and outside our portfolio of host employers) and surface what we call actionable tactics - i.e. concrete actions our readers can take to increase their employability.
Our goal is to command the space we own, building on an audience of nearly a million annual visitors, and becoming one of the most recognizable and widely-read sites in the early careers space.
This Is Where You Come In...
The Content Creator will own and create content for Capital Placement from end to end. The role will include interviewing some of the most respected minds today - from Founders and company CEOs to the very best in recruiters, career consultants, and more. You’ll be expected to create bold, innovative narratives that will not only inform our readers but help them build their careers. We’re all about powerful, detailed, long-form writing with heart.
You will also work alongside our marketing team to tackle marketing and brand-building opportunities and challenges. How can we maximise our influence on social media? How do we make our emails sing? Which tools are best to spread the word about our unique approach to interning abroad? We’re looking for someone to join our brain trust on all these topics.
Doing things differently is part of our DNA
‘Different’ is reflected in everything we do. As an international internship provider, we help students and recent graduates that are at the very beginning of a long journey. Our unique approach has helped candidates go on to work for companies such as Twitter, IBM, Accenture, Spotify, and Deloitte, to name a few. But at the start, we’re here to provide the tools, resources and a community to help them to win long-term.
Interested? Here is what we are looking for:
When you first meet someone and are asked what you do, you respond without hesitation that you’re a writer. It may be that you run content for a startup or write copy as a freelancer. Maybe you’ve been in journalism forever and are ready for something new. If writing has been at the centre of your career for the last two to five years, you’re on the right track. We love good writing here, and we would love to do a lot more of it.
You’re curious about people. You like asking them questions and learning what makes them tick. Whether you regularly interview people as a part of your job, conduct user testing, teach, ask people about themselves, how they think and work, is inherently interesting to you. We want someone who can eventually walk into Apple and feel confident interviewing the VP of Hiring about their recruitment process.
You like asking questions. You have the ability to ask the right questions, and you enjoy doing so, diving deeper for information when needed. You easily convert unstructured interviews into an easy-to-read blog, with actionable points our readers can take away and implement.
You’re super organised. You’re a task management junkie who is always looking for ways to become even more productive and effective.
The early careers space fascinates you. You may not necessarily have a deep understanding of the industry, but you should be willing to learn fast. We want to work with someone who can hit the ground running, navigating their way through the jargon and industry-specific terminology. If you’ve written content about early careers before, that’s a plus.
Steep learning curves thrill you. You already have experience and your instincts around social media, email marketing, and running experiments to build brands are sharp. Great. But here at Capital Placement, we’re always trying to push the envelope- keeping our eyes focused on new tactics, and the latest findings and recommendations from people in the know, to expand our footprint and bring more people into our fold.
The word ‘autonomy’ makes you happy. While the Content Creator role will report to the Co-founder, we’re really looking for a self-starter who can handle projects on their own from start to finish. We want someone who can contribute fresh ideas not just to our blog, but to the whole team. At Capital Placement, we want to build a company for which everyone is excited to work. You’d be a major player.
Is This You, or Does It Sound Like Someone You Know?
If so, we’d love to chat! Send a note to our Co-founder, Niran at niran at capital hyphen placement dot com.
